Coronavirus furlough leave spurred friends Samantha Wedge and Stephanie Meldrum to set up My Dream Wedding and to celebrate its launch, the Dorchester-based company is giving away a wedding planning package worth more than £1,300 to one lucky couple in Dorset, Somerset or Hampshire.
Samantha, who is a finance manager and former wedding planner at a top hotel and Stephanie, a personal assistant, launched their new venture on August 1.
And with so many couples forced to postpone their weddings due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the duo wanted to mark their metaphorical ribbon-cutting by helping one lucky couple get their big day back on track.
Samantha, from Dorchester in Dorset, said: “We have friends who were forced to postpone their wedding this summer, so we’ve seen first-hand just how upsetting that was for them.
“So many others have also had to postpone their big days, so we wanted to mark the launch of My Dream Wedding by offering one of those couples a helping hand with one of our Diamond wedding planning packages.”
The lucky winners will receive:
· The My Dream Wedding starter-pack, which includes the ultimate online wedding planner
· One face-to-face and two virtual planning sessions with the team from My Dream Wedding
· A bespoke wedding countdown website, which includes a live image feed for the big day itself
· Two My Dream Wedding planners at the winner’s wedding
The prize is worth £1,340.
Stephanie, also from Dorchester, added: “We’re really excited to be launching My Dream Wedding. It’s been something we’ve wanted to do for some time, but the coronavirus lockdown really spurred us on to get everything set up and ready to go.
“We were so upset for all the people whose weddings were postponed due to the pandemic, so we really wanted to mark what is a massively exciting time for us by giving something back to one of those couples.”

Entrants must be able to prove their 2020 wedding was postponed due to coronavirus and be planning to hold their revised wedding date in either 2021 or 2022 to be eligible for the prize.
One winner will be chosen at random and the closing date for entries is August 31.
