Brides and grooms have so many resources to look for wedding inspiration these days, from social media sites to endless glossy magazines. Celebrities are also big influencers when it comes to choosing wedding dresses and accessories, grooms’ outfits, and décor, as couples want to copy their favourite stars when planning their Big Day.
Lyst has revealed The Wedding Report, which analyses the online shopping trends of 100 million consumers per month, and has found which celebs have been most influential among loved-up couples this year.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the star-studded nuptials between Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin was a big hit with the public. So much so that online searches for off-white wedding dresses, much like the Virgil Abloh one Hailey wore on September 30th 2019, rose by 156 per cent in October.
At the same time, searches for lace dresses increased by 29 per cent, which is likely to be down to the supermodel’s lace slim-fitting fishtail wedding dress with off-the-shoulder long sleeves and a low-cut back.
The Biebers are not the only trend-setters, as searches for Vivienne Westwood gowns surged by 147 per cent during the 24 hours after Kim Kardashian wore a gold off-the-shoulder gown by the designer for P Diddy’s 50thbirthday party on December 14th last year.
It is not just brides who are influenced by stars though, as searches for black suits rose by 33 per cent the month after Marc Jacobs wore one to his wedding to Charly Defrancesco in April 2019. At the same time, searches for velvet jackets, which his groom wore, grew by 46 per cent.
